I've been trying to figure it out too but there could be a miriad of reasons why girls and women (and some guys too I guess) are attracted to Edward Cullen. Before I became a "Wolf Girl", so to speak, I had to have been attracted to Edward somewhat for me to pick up "New Moon" to read. So here';s what I think...

Edward embodies the chivalry and romanticism that is lacking in modern society. Despite the fact that in the world we live in today, where women are expected to be stronger than the women in the previous century, we still crave for that "knight on a white horse", the "strong brave to sweep us up into his stallion" and "run off into the sunset". It doesn't matter if a woman is a lawyer, a doctor, senator, teacher, or what have you - somewhere deep iside we still want to be woo-ed and be treated like a princess. And that's what Edward does because he comes from an old world where men were expected to treat women as though they were gentler, fragile, and weaker.

Of course, Edward's baby-ing of Bella is what unnerved me. I was initially attracted to that old-world romantic side of Edward, but that gets old if the guy goes too far and starts treating the girl like a child. Well, to someone who is 110 years old, 17 is definitely a child... a baby, even.

I guess there needs to be a fine balance. Women want to be treated like a princess who happens to be able to don an armor from time to time - not a baby who knows nothing about what's good for herself. That's my two cents at least.

well in the book i think it is harder to fall for Jacob because Bella is so in love with Edward and you are in her head. I am definitely team Edward because I love his eys, hair, lips and cheek bones. Though some isn't described in the bok i think Rob makes up for it Edward hangs out with teenagers because for one, he was 17 when his body was frozen so I expect he still feels like a 17 year old, 2, it would be pretty strange for him to hang out with old man, 3, he actually hangs out with people his age like emmett and jasper who are just as old as him, 4, he is in love!

I was asked the other day what team I choose Edward or Jacob.. well I had to say Edward far be it for me to stand in the way of true love. I mean Bella never once said she wanted to be with Jacob. but she needed him when Edward left her.. and I say that even though people see Edward as cold hearted . Edward left Bella Not because he didn't love Bella, but because he felt being with her would bring her distress and leave her in constant harm.

Edward did the most selfless thing that a person could do for another if they felt that their life would rain down nothing but trouble and grief on another life..Edward loved her and wanted more for her life than what he felt he could offer her. But the thing with that is ... it is not for one person to make that decision for another person.. when it comes to love.. it is a two way street. Both should have the ability to voice their feelings on everything.. no one should have a "right" to make a decision for another.

As much as I feel Jacob, is great, kind, loving, buff and all I just don't see Bella loving him the way she loves Edward.. which makes all the difference in the world. Now had Bella met Jacob before Edward; it may have been a different story.. but alas... she did not.. So I am in favor of true love or love at first sight..And Jacob will have to remain a true friend...and accept Edward as being her love..

I am dying to read the Eclipse and see what that has to offer.. and how many sequels are going to come of this saga anyways?

I think they should spin it off into a series on television.. way better than "Buffy the vampire..." possibly even better than "Vampire Diaries"

i think that the attraction is all because of his true utter love for bella that will never die. what girl doesn't want that. of course everyone loves edward cullen. and by being team edward is being team jacob too in a way... read the books team jacob people.
