I've been to La Push. It was the summer of 2008. My family and I had been saving up for a Washington vacation since early 2007 when I started reading the books. La Push was gorgeous! I loved being by the ocean because it reminded me of home. It can get cold even in August so I would suggest packing a sweater and coat for when the fog sets in. The weather can change like no one's business. The sun is out one minute, then it's foggy and cold the next.
For anyone considering visiting La Push, I would HiGHLY reccommend staying at the La Push Ocean Park Resort. You may have to make reservations like 6 months to a year in advance. Even back in 2008, I was told that I would need to call in 9 months in advance to check for vacancy. And with the popularity of Twilight soaring even more since then, I wouldn't be surprised if you need a minimum of a year to make reservations.

Anyway, even we went to Forks after La Push and stayed at a motel there, but I drove back to LaPush everyday. It was fun thinking “Oh wow – so this is the scenery that Bella would have seen when she was visiting Jacob!”
but it was because I felt more at home in La Push than I did in Forks that I kept going back each day. On the morning of our last vacation day when we had to drive back to Seattle to catch a flight back to Phoenix, my husband looked at me and said, “So… ya wanna drive back to La Push one last time right?” *LOL* He was right of course, and I rushed back to the rez and spent 20 minutes there before heading back to Forks to pick up my hubby and son who were perfectly content with spending those 20 minutes at the sporting goods store across the street (where Bella supposedly works with Mike Newton).
